Maxym Kravchuk

Ukraine Child #42092 – $29 per month

For many years, they have been a big Christian family (Kravchuk family: mother Olena, father Dmytro and their four children: Sergiy, Ivan, Mark and Maxym). The parents had a good family business, children were attending school and kindergarten, and they were active church members.

Every week mother Olena was going to the orphanage with a church group. They had been serving with a program for children, bringing them food and presents. One day Olena saw a new girl in the orphanage; her name was Larysa and she was four years old. The girl was very shy, but Olena talked to the girl a lot and they became very close. One day Olena decided to take the girl from the orphanage to their family (Larysa’s parents were deprived their rights). Thus little Larysa became a member of this big family.

Several years later, little Karolina was born, making eight people in the family. However, the father started gambling and drinking. A few years later, there was nothing in their house but debts and empty rooms. The whole family went away from God.

The father is gone now. He doesn’t help the family. He is deprived parental rights. Olena is raising their children by herself. The older boys – Sergiy and Ivan- work very hard, trying to live on their own. Larysa is in the ninth grade; she is a good student and very nice person. She wants to go to college and become a teacher. The younger children – Maxym and Karolina need a lot of attention, help, and support.

Maxym is very talented boy. He is a good student and likes experimenting with chemicals. But his desire is to become a programmer, he is working on small computer programs now. Last year, Maxym had a surgery (cyst removal). The boy has recovered quickly and he is back to sports now, he loves sports.

Mercy Projects conducts a Child Sponsorship project in Ukraine to keep children at home with their mother or family members. Our goal is to keep children out of orphanages and home with family. Child Sponsorship supports the entire family and is the first step to bringing hope and health to these needy children.

The family started going to the church (except older boys) and Karolina is singing in children’s choir.

Please, pray for this family, for mother’s good job, for Maxym’s health, for bigger apartment for all of them . For older boys – that they restore their relationships with God.
