Irina Skrypnik has led the Mercy Projects Ukraine ministry since 1994. Together with her husband Yuri, they lead a dedicated staff assisting more than 700 at-risk children in Ukraine.

In October 2014, Mercy Projects celebrated 20 years of ministry in Ukraine. Current staff, former staff, many friends, and former sponsored children came to share their stories of how Christ has changed their lives. Few eyes remained dry as young people, now starting their own families, shared their testimony of attending summer camps and finding new faith in God.

Sveta, from the former UNESCO center in Ivankiv near Chernobyl, shared that their center became a resource to hundreds of young people due to their partnership with Mercy Projects: “Irina showed us that we could work and serve people.”

Director Irina Skrypnik has spent the last 20 years championing the cause of at-risk children in a country that has hid them behind the cold walls of institutions.

“Our vision is to see orphans and other needy children become physically, spiritually, and emotionally healthy,” Irina said. “We have a staff of 20 childcare coordinators and six full-time office staff. I love helping find solutions and help that bring blessing to young lives.”
